I’m super excited to be linking up with Monday Made It for the first time this summer!
My project for this week was a super easy one because I’m not very crafty. I’ve had this storage box from Ikea for YEARS and used it when I had a bee themed classroom. (That was before I knew about Pinterest, so my “cute-ifying” skills were kind of terrible. I just hot glued some little wooden bee things on it and called it a day. Well, I decided I need to give it a face lift so it could match my Tropical Themed Classroom.
So, I started with this.
I took off the little wooden bee pieces.
Luckily, the hot glue peeled right off.
Here’s all the stuff I peeled off…
Now I was ready to start.
The PLAN (you know what they say about plans…) was to paint it and then hot glue some shells on.
I love this paint. You can’t tell here, but it’s glitter paint and I used it to make my READ Sign last year. So cute!
This was the brush I had to use since all of my good supplies are at school.
Of course, a few minutes into painting, the little miss woke up from her nap and wanted to help. 😉
I finished the painting and let it dry. Once it was dry, I sprayed it with sealer.
Remember the sea shells? Well, my hot glue gun is also in school which means all I had was good ol’ Elmers glue. There was no way that would keep the sea shells on. I decided to use these little plastic circles instead. I bought them a few years ago when I thought I was going to make jewelry. (Great plan, except I was terrible at it.)
Luckily, these plastic circles are so light that the Elmers glue held them on just fine.
Close up with the glue drying.
Here’s my finished storage drawers! I love how it came out! I will label the drawers once I know what I’m going to use them for.
Hope you enjoyed!
