Favorite books for teaching students to be Communicator
The Word Collector is a fantastic book to show how our words are meant to be shared. It focuses on the magic of words, all kinds of words! It is a great book to start the conversation on what it means to be a communicator and the power of sharing our words with the world.
The Dot is a great book to show that communication is not only a verbal activity, but that we can communicate through things like art and music.
One Word from Sophia is an excellent book about how our communication style can change based on who we are talking too. This sweet tale is a perfect addition to your classroom library.
My Mouth is a Volcano illustrates that communication is about listening as well as speaking. Students will learn that it’s important to listen and not interrupt when others are trying to communicate.
The Pigeon sure knows how to communicate his wants and needs! I love to use these books to demonstrate the different ways we can share our thoughts and opinions (and sometimes the ways not to).
The If You Give a Series is an excellent series to add to your communicator collection. These books go to show that communication can lead from one thing to another!
Wolf in the Snow is one of my favorite wordless picture books. This lovely story shows that not all communication involves speaking.
