This resource includes 50 reading comprehension passages 10 for each long vowel sound that you can quickly and easily personalize with your students names!
These passages are written with first and second graders in mind, but could be used with kindergarten, ESOL/ELL, or Special Education students depending on students’ reading levels.
There are a total of 50 passages included that focus on a variety of long vowel sounds, both in isolation and with other long vowel sounds.
Sounds included:
long a 10 passages- CVCe, ai, ay, a, mixed long a
long e 10 passages- CVCe, ee, ea, y, ie, mixed long e
long i 10 passages- CVCe, igh, ie, y, mixed long i
long o 10 passages- CVCe, oa, ow, o, oe, mixed long o
long u 3 passages- CVCe, u
mixed long vowels 7 passages- CVCe mixed, mixed vowel teams, mixed all long vowels
How to Prep
These passages are super easy to use and require very little prep! Simply type student names in the table of contents and the names will automatically fill in the passages. Print them out, and you’re ready to go! It’s really that easy!
Class Sets in a SNAP!
A class set option is included for each passage! Simply type your students’ names in the table of contents once, and it will autofill into all of the passages creating class sets for up to 20 students. If you have more than 20 students, you can type in your first 20 students’ names, print, and then type the next students names.
What Do Students Do?
Each passage includes a short story for students to read, an illustration in which they are able to complete by drawing themselves on the blank faced body, and then 3 simple comprehension questions that students can answer by reading the text or looking at the picture! You can also have students color code the questions and where they found the answer in the story!
Answer keys are included.
