FAQ’s

How does the curriculum work?

Students will complete the writing process each week- pre-writing, drafting, editing, and publishing- and will end with final drafts that they will be proud of! The variety of differentiated Pre-Writing options make differentiating for your specific group of learners a breeze, and the lesson plan summaries for each lesson help you quickly map out your lessons for the week.

Students will produce a variety of writings: narrative, informational, descriptive, expository, opinion, persuasive, goal setting, and friendly letter.

Why are there so many lessons?

Most school’s are in session for about 36 weeks. This curriculum includes 47 weeks of writing lessons because it allows you to pick and choose the lessons that are right for your class. It also gives you wiggle room in the instance that students finish a writing assignment in less than 5 days. The extra lessons are included to make your life easier and allow you plan for and differentiate with your students!

How can this curriculum be used in kindergarten, first, and second grade?

Each lesson is made for differentiation and includes multiple levels of graphic organizers. All of the topics included are appropriate for and interesting to students in grades K-2. With kindergarten students, you can use the simplest graphic organizers and writing templates, and with second you can use the more complex. Additionally, because there are extra weeks, you can skip and lessons that you deem too easy or hard for your class (although I think you’ll find they really are very flexible)! Lastly, the varied levels included in each lesson allow for easy differentiation. Let’s face it. An average, primary classroom will have a wide variety of writers!
